Background: Diabetes Mellitus is a metabolic disease with hyperglycemic characteristics characterized by high blood sugar levels exceeding normal values caused by abnormalities in insulin secretion or both. DM induces immune deficiency through several mechanisms. Uncontrolled blood sugar levels for a long time will reduce the phagocytosis function of leukocytes so that they are susceptible to infection and cause inflammation that increases the number of leukocytes. Methodology: The method used in this research is a literature study with a literature review that is extracted from a variety of literature information (majalaj scientific journals, and documents). Sampling using purposive sampling, random sampling and accidental sampling and obtained journals that match the inclusion criteria. The research journal is made a summary including the name of the researcher, the year of publication, the title of the study, the method and the summary of the results. Results: Based on a literature study, the number of leukocytes in type 2 diabetes mellitus obtained a normal average result. Discussion & Conclusion: The picture of the leukocyte count in type 2 diabetes mellitus can be increased due to an increase in proinflammatory cytokines, one of which is leukocytes. Leukocytes are the initial diagnosis and prevention of complications so that the body's immunity is maintained.
